Capacity-building programme for SL Education Administrative Service officers

Capacity-building programme for SL Education Administrative Service officers

A delegation of 20 officers from Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service under the Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Ministry, participated in a specialised training and capacity-building programme at National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, India from October 5 to 16

The programme comprised a series of technical sessions and knowledge-sharing activities covering educational policy formulation and implementation; leadership and institutional management; school supervision and quality assurance; governance and accountability; digital literacy and technology-enabled learning; data-driven decision-making; strategic planning and resource management; stakeholder coordination; and international best practices in educational administration.

The programme also emphasised the practical application of innovative management approaches, effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and the adaptation of successful educational practices, especially in the Sri Lankan context.

The programme was organised pursuant to the announcement made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, under which India committed to offering 700 customised training slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals. With 300 Sri Lankan civil servants undergoing training annually under a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Centre for Good Governance of India and Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, India’s capacity-building endeavours now benefit more than 1,000 Sri Lankans annually.
