AIA Sri Lanka Deputy CEO Upul Wijesinghe recognised by University of Colombo Graduates Association

AIA Insurance Sri Lanka Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Distribution Officer Upul Wijesinghe, has been recognised by the University of Colombo Graduates Association, Sarasavi Mithuro for his outstanding contribution to Sri Lanka’s insurance industry.

The recognition highlights his influential role in shaping the sector through leadership and a steadfast commitment to customer value and professional excellence. Wijesinghe is a highly respected insurance professional with almost four decades of experience. As Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Distribution Officer of AIA Insurance Lanka, his strategic leadership has played a leading role in strengthening AIA’s market position and advancing its purpose of helping Sri Lankans live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

Appointed to the Board of Directors of AIA Insurance Lanka in January 2023, Wijesinghe has held several senior leadership positions within the Company. He also currently serves as Chairman of Rainbow Trust Management Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of AIA Insurance Lanka.

A graduate of the University of Colombo with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science, Wijesinghe is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK, and an alumnus of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Switzerland. He has also made notable contributions to the broader insurance industry, having served as President of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute from 2002 to 2003.

His leadership, expertise and dedication have not only contributed to the success and growth of AIA Insurance Lanka but have also helped shape the broader insurance landscape in Sri Lanka.
