Sri Lanka to Celebrate Landmark Inclusion Event: “Embracing Diversity – Skills and Work for Persons with Disabilities” on 21 November 2025
Sri Lanka will host a landmark national event, “Embracing Diversity – Skills and Work for Persons with Disabilities,” on Friday, 21st November 2025 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 7. The full-day initiative, organised under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education together with the GIZ–Vocational Training in Sri Lanka (VTSL) 2023–2026 project, is set to become one of the country’s most significant platforms for expanding inclusive skills, employment, and economic participation.
Implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of BMZ and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the event will convene policymakers, training institutions, employers, and civil society partners to highlight how inclusive vocational training can expand opportunities and strengthen meaningful economic participation for persons with disabilities.
Notably, the programme will feature a Job Match Pavilion linking skilled jobseekers with inclusive employers, a vibrant Economic Zone showcasing enterprises run by persons with disabilities, and a Creative Zone with performances and artwork by children and adults from partner institutions.
Despite progress in recent years, persons with disabilities continue to face barriers in accessing education, vocational opportunities, and employment. “Embracing Diversity” serves as a national call to recognise ability, remove limitations, and promote pathways that allow every individual to learn, work, and contribute meaningfully.
The public, private sector, and civil society organisations are invited to attend and support this important national initiative, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s collective commitment to a more equitable and inclusive future.
