Siyapatha Finance Unveils Newest Branch in the Historic Town of Mahiyanganaya

Homegrown finance company Siyapatha Finance PLC recently expanded its holistic services to the ancient agricultural hub of Mahiyanganaya, progressing onto the successful opening of its 56th branch.

Resonating with the company’s vision to deliver optimum value to its stakeholders, the latest branch offers a wide product portfolio ranging from leasing, fixed deposits, savings, gold financing, business loans, personal loans, fast draft, and factoring to the Smart Pay facility to provide an exceptional customer experience in the region.

The Mahiyanganaya branch was declared open by Siyapatha Finance PLC Managing Director Mr. Ananda Seneviratne, in the presence of Siyapatha Finance PLC Chief Operating Officer Mr. Rajeev De Silva, senior management, and staff as well as Mahiyanganaya Divisional Secretary  Mr . Vimansa Senevirathna,  Inspector of Police Mr . P.S.K. De silva, Grama Niladhari Mr . R.N.S. Ranawaka, Trade Association President Mr.Sarath Mahinda Kumara, officials from government and private banks and insurance companies, and well-wishers.

Adorned by the subtle fusion of lush greenery, natural beauty, and religious and historical importance, Mahiyanganaya is seated at the heart of the Badulla District. Derived from the ancient Pali language, the name means “flat land”, signifying the notable flatness of the land through the road from Kandy to Padiyathalawa across Hunnasgiriya and the 18 hairpin bends, famously known as the “Daha Ata Wanguwa”.

Situated in close proximity to the Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka, the community’s way of life and livelihood are deeply rooted in its traditional agricultural practices, where a majority 52.30% of the active workforce engage in paddy cultivation. Over the decades, the Mahaweli Development Programme has allowed locals to make greater strides in the agriculture industry by seizing opportunities that were otherwise unreachable.

At present, with a substantial  portion of the population belonging to the economically active age group of 15 to 64 years, the overall economic landscape of Mahiyanganaya primarily comprises individuals and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in the fields of agriculture, services, and trade, indicating the need for well-founded financial support.

Siyapatha Finance PLC Managing Director Mr. Ananda Seneviratne shared his thoughts during the opening ceremony, noting: “It is with great delight that we are gathered here for the opening of the 56th Siyapatha Finance branch. One of the first aspects anyone could observe about Mahiyanganaya is the community. While it’s essential to note the high economic growth potential of the region, it is also encouraging to witness how the community values the rich heritage, culture and traditions of Mahiyanganaya. We trust that with the right kind of reliable and flexible financial support, Mahiyanganaya is capable of emerging as one of the most prominent localities in the district.”

In line with the “Siyapathen Mihikathata” corporate social responsibility (CSR) project, the Senior Management of Siyapatha Finance carried out a tree planting programme at Sorabora Wewa Maha Vidyalaya in the Badulla District  and donated computers and accessories with a vision of propelling digital learning in schools.
