IIHS launches 1+2 pathway with Deakin University

The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) has proudly announced the official launch of its groundbreaking 1+2 Pathway with Deakin University, Australia, during Deakin Week Sri Lanka 2025 at IIHS Multiversity. This initiative marks a milestone in Sri Lanka’s higher education landscape, offering students a seamless transition from local to global education. Under this new pathway, students complete their Diploma of Health Science with one year of study at IIHS in Sri Lanka before transferring to Deakin University in Australia for the final two years. The program opens doors to internationally recognized degrees in Sport & Exercise Science, Nutrition Science, and Psychological Science, empowering Sri Lankan students to gain global exposure and career opportunities abroad.

The launch event was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. John Molony, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (International), Deakin University; Ms. Sandi Seneviratne, Director – Education, Sri Lanka & Maldives, Austrade; Ms. Chaturika Bandara, Head of International Strategy and Partnerships, Deakin University; and Ms. Dionne Gregory, Country Director, Deakin International – Sri Lanka Country Office. With this 1+2 pathway, IIHS redefines the possibilities of higher education by allowing students to: Begin their studies locally, benefiting from affordable tuition and strong academic support, Transfer seamlessly into Deakin’s prestigious degree programs, Gain eligibility for Post Study Work Rights (PSWR) in Australia, enabling valuable global work experience.

Students at IIHS can gain entry into a wide variety of health-related degrees overseas, through the Diploma of Health Science, including: Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science - Prepare for careers as exercise scientists, performance coaches, or wellness consultants with practical exposure and recognized credentials, Bachelor of Nutrition Science - Learn the science behind food and health while gaining access to nutrition labs and future career paths in hospitals, research, and wellness industries, Bachelor of Psychological Science - Explore human behavior, cognitive development, and mental health fields that are in high demand globally.
