Sri Lanka’s stock market ended lower on Friday (27) despite recording a strong surge in trading activity, with turnover surpassing the Rs. 7 billion mark.
At the close of trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) declined by 47.17 points to 23,734.06, while the S&P SL20 Index fell 74.20 points to 6,635.97, reflecting broad-based weakness in large-cap counters.
Market turnover stood at a notable Rs. 7.01 billion, marking one of the highest daily totals in recent sessions. A significant contribution came from Renuka Agri Foods PLC, which accounted for Rs. 1.14 billion in on-board trades.
Domestic participation dominated market activity, with local purchases amounting to Rs. 6.84 billion and local sales at Rs. 6.48 billion. Meanwhile, foreign investors recorded purchases of Rs. 164 million and sales of Rs. 528 million, resulting in a net foreign outflow for the session.
