Sri Lankan jewelry designer wins CPAA international Award


Sri Lanka’s award-winning jewelry and watch designer Chamal Jayaratna has won the Luster Award for ‘Foam and Pearls’ Earring at 2021 international pearl design competition (IPDC) US organized by the Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA). 

This winning piece represents the evolution of best-selling pearl jewelry designs bearing covetable and marketable concepts with wide appeal for the marketplace. And last year he has won ‘Visionary’ Award.

Jayaratna also has won the Best Design in the Ring category and final round award in the Earring category at the MIJF Jewelry Design Awards 2020 International Competition. 

Jayaratna, the first Sri Lankan featured as Alumni of Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and he is of the first Sri Lankans pioneer in designing Jewelry using the advanced technology CAD and 3D prototyping. In addition, he is one of the leading Sri Lankan designers to be awarded in world-class events while working with luxury platforms.

Jayaratna previously 2018 Presidential Gold Award winner for best designer NGJA Sri Lanka, 2017 Award of Distinction US ‘The Spotlight is on you’ jewelry Design contest – JCK Las Vegas show, 2016 PLATINUM Award Basel World Design contest Switzerland where his creation “Secret of the Sea,” which took his design to the world-class jewelry exhibition stage, 2016 Silver Award – JUNWEX 2016 Best Design Competition, Moscow Russia, 2015 Silver Award Solids cape Basel world Design Competition Switzerland, 2015 Third place ELLE Design Worldwide competition – US 2015 has won national and international awards.
