Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.52 per cent higher on Friday pushed up by Commercial Leasing and Finance PLC, LOLC Holdings and Expolanka, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 40.50 points to close at 7,852.19. The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.78 per cent or 23.13 points to close at 2,979.01.
Turnover was 3.4 billion rupees with 104 stocks gaining and 78 falling. Commercial Leasing and Finacne PLC closed 60 cents up at 7.70 rupees a share contributing most to ASPI’s gain. John Keells Holdings closed at 1.25 rupees up at 136.00 rupees a share while Vallibel one closed 20 cents up at 51.50 rupees a share.
Hayleys Plc closed 60 cents up at 76.60 rupees with key subsidiaries Haycarb Plc closing 90 cents down at 95.50 rupees and Dipped Products gained 30 cents to close at 52.60 rupees. The Kingsbury closed flat at 6.90 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 30 cents up at 18.10 rupees.
LOLC Holdings gained 5.25 rupees to close at 410.25 rupees while LOLC Development Finance closed 25 cents down at 550.50 rupees a share. LOLC Finance closed 30 cents up at 6.90 rupees, Browns Investment closed 10 cents up at 6.10 rupees a share and Brown and Company gained 25 cents to close at 171.25 rupees a share.
Carson Cumberbatch closed 3.75 rupees down at 291.25 rupees. Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 3.75 rupees up at 961.00 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 10 cents up at 12.10 rupees and Ceylon Cold Stores closed flat at 656.00 rupees. Sri Lanka Telecom closed 20 cents up at 33.80 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed flat at 17.00 rupees and Expolanka Holdings gained 1.10 rupees up at 50.90 rupees.
Dialog Axiata closed flat at 12.20 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 8.25 cents down at 1,288.75 rupees and Kotmale Holdings fell 32.25 rupees or to close at 473.25 rupees a share. Dialog Finance Plc closed 2.10 rupees up at 84.40 rupees a share. Housing Development Finance closed 70 cents down at 36.00 rupees while Central Finance Company closed 1.50 rupees down at 88.50 rupees.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 70 cents up at 87.30 rupees. Hatton National Bank closed 1.25 rupees up at 132.25 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed flat at 52.70 rupees a share. DFCC Bank closed 10 cents up at 60.40 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed flat at 56.20 rupees.
Seylan Bank closed 50 cents down at 48.50 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 10 cents up at 16.10 rupees. Bukit Darah closed 6.75 rupees up at 301.50 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 20 cents down at 79.70 rupees. Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 75 cents down at 140.75 rupees.
Distilleries Company closed 20 cents down at 19.40 rupees a share and Melstacorp Plc closed 60 cents up at 47.00 rupees. In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed 60 cents up at 11.80 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed 30 cents up at 9.60 rupees a share while Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 10 cents down at 29.70 rupees.
Access Engineering closed flat at 23.00 rupees. Aitken Spence Plc closed 20 cents up at 57.20 rupees. Windforce Closed 10 cents up at 18.90 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed 40 cents down at 13.00 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed 30 cents down at 9.80 rupees. Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 10 cents up at 35.90 rupees, Lanka Tiles closed 20 cents up at 52.50 rupees, Lanka Walltiles closed 20 cents up at 62.50 rupees and Lanka ceramic closed 1.00 rupees down at 158.00 rupees.
